RⱯHM THE THUNDER PEAL OF SPACKLE ON DRYWALL

Everything about RⱯHM’s aesthetic, from his name to his song titles to the murky images that accompany his latest track suggests that we’re about to hear some visceral, assaulting Scandinavian black metal. What ‘the thunder peal of spackle on drywall’ actually gives us, is a minimalistic journey through an emotive soundscape, speckled with a hauntingly beautiful lead vocal. Having said that, experimentalism is still the name of the game here. The industrial sounds and angry beats that flutter quietly away beneath the track give off serious Eraserhead vibes. There’s a lot more Lynchian surrealism surrounding RⱯHM. His website is mind-bending and filled with clues to his upcoming debut album. -Dan Peeke
